What do you need?
- Tennis racquets and tennis balls
- Net
- Court

Singles : the ball is out if land in the tram lines
Doubles : can play in the tram lines
What type of shots can you play?
- Forehand: your main tennis shot
- Backhand: when the ball comes to the opposite side of your body to what you’re holding your racquet
- Serve: To start a game
- Smash: to hit the ball hard and in a downwards direction to your opponent
- Volley: hitting the ball so that it drops just over the net in your opponent’s half
Rules:
- Ball can only bounce once on the court, in the opponent’s half.
- Ball must land within the court lines
When serving….
- If you step over the line, it’s called a “foot fault”
- After each point is played, players must move to the other side of their court
- If the ball hits the net and lands in your opponent’s service box, it’s called a “let” and they can have the serve again
- Players stand diagonally opposite each other
Scoring:
• Each player has a turn at serving for a whole game.
• After each point is played they move from one side of their half to the other side
• The points are scored as: 15, 30, 40. If both player get to 40, it is called deuce.
• A player must win 6 games to win a set
• A whole match consists of a maximum of 5 sets for men and 3 sets for women. |
