ART

Choose one of the questions below. It is permissible to produce two supporting studies from direct observation and to produce the final examination piece using the supporting studies as a reference point. Studies may be of either the whole or part of the subject. Small specimens or details may be enlarged. Students must produce their own resources for still life.

For the design question you must bring in images/photographs.

Suggested materials: shading pencils, chalk pastels, oil pastels, colour pencils, ruler, sharpener and an eraser.

Natural and Man Made Objects

·         A stapler and a box of staples on its side with some strips of staples spilling out.

·         A still life composed from leaves and Twigs.

Design

·         Produce a repeat pattern taken from a zoomed section of a natural form/forms e.g. a leaf and a section from a dragonfly’s wing. Repeat the patterns four times in 3 X 3 inch blocks on the paper provided. Colour each block including the backgrounds in different colour.
