Volunteers Needed

Looking for parents that have extra time to assist at school. If you are interested to extend a helping hand please call reception, and we will send a form to be completed.

Extra help may include; assisting with House activities, supervising outings, helping with school programs and a reading program with our young students.

Parent volunteers will provide a rich supplement to our co-curricular activities, and I would encourage parents to become involved as much as they can be.

Second Term Begins...

I hope that everyone enjoyed the Winter Holidays, as this year the UAE has indeed had a spate of good, cold weather.  With the onset of the second term, I have decided to keep you up-to-date, with a  newsletter from my office, rather than placing the same in the school newsletter, “Students Talk @Wesgreen”. I felt this would be best, as the newsletter does take considerable time to be published my news becomes outdated by the time it is received.

I hope that this will allow for better communication and information from my side. Do remember, that all staff members may be contacted at anytime—however, an appointment must be made prior to any meeting.

Academic Excellence...

If you want your children to keep their feet on the ground, put some responsibility on their shoulders.
    A. Buren

This academic year started off with Progress Reports, and first term reports were distributed on January 11, 2005. {The academic folder must be returned to the class teacher—after parents have signed it}  Progress Reports will be issued every thirty five days; the next report is scheduled for March 6th, as indicated on the school planner. As students have opted for an international syllabus—emphasis on academic excellence cannot be undermined. It is imperative that all students work extra hard to achieve success in their studies.

Wesgreen Highlights...events...activities...

The school community  raised more than19,000 DHS for the Tsunami Relief Fund. The Girls and the Primary section held a bake sale, and contributed many supplies: medical, clothes, and non perishable items. The boys section held a soccer match between the staff and senior students. The staff won—the match but the students stole the show by collecting 13,000 DHS in two days. The boys section decided to send the funds to the Red Crescent, and the Girls and Primary sections sent their funds and collection of goods to the Sheikh Maktoum Charity Foundation in Dubai.

The Girls Debate Club organized an Inter-Class Debate between the students of Grades 10 and 11.The topic selected was “Character And Not Wealth Make A Man” and there were 8 participants. In all it proved to be an enriching experience for the participants as well as the audience, and many left the auditorium that day, with plenty of food for thought.

Students have been busy with outings thus far to; the French Cultural Center, Ras Al Khaimah, Al Twar Park, Star Juice Factory, Madinat Jumeriah, the Islamic Museum, Old Sharjah Museum, Sharjah Humanitarian City,  Sharjah Wildlife Park, Sharjah Heritage Area, Sharjah University, LG Electronics Dubai, for –participation in a national contest.

A Story to Share...A Note of Thanks ...

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings, thank you Allahthat I can hear, there are many who are deaf.

Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible, thank you Allah that I can see. Many are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising, thank you Lord that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are bed ridden.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast is burned and tempers are short, my children are so loud, thank you Allah for my family. There are many who are lonely.

Even though our breakfast table never looks like pictures in magazines and the menu is at times bland, thank you Allah for the food we have. There are many who are hungry.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate everyday and wish my circumstances were not so modest, thank you Allah for life.
