Academic Session Commences ...
|
I t has been noticed that without discipline in a caring fashion students will wander.
At Wesgreen International School, we will try to instill a strong sense of pride at being a part of our school. We hope to work with parents and the community and are optimistic that we can. We will try with your help to infuse in our students respect for others, consideration towards classmates and an understanding of their environment.
Children learn what they live. Parents need to monitor their children’s internet activities at home. We are dealing with young impressionable minds and content which is not age appropriate will only result in the degeneration of our students. Our primary goal will be to enhance not only academics but also social skills and awareness.
Above all remember that students should remain students . They are expected to behave at all times in a manner, which is not liable to bring the name of the school into disrepute. Students should wear their uniform and feel proud of the same, both in and outside of school. Students are expected to cooperate actively in their own learning process, by appropriate classroom behavior, diligence in homework, attending to teacher’s advice and by accepting responsibility for their own purpose.
Please note that any activity that is held at the School on weekends – will be through a written circular, indicating the date and time on the school letter head.
I wish your child to have a happy and meaningful stay at Wesgreen International School, and this can only be achieved by a strong partnership between the school, home and student. |

| Homework Guidelines...
|
Homework is an important and integral part of the educational program of Wesgreen Intl School. It is an extension of daily instruction for the purpose of reinforcement, enrichment, and practice of skills and concepts developed in the classroom. Homework’s purpose is to enhance learning. Good homework assignments include the practice of skills already developed, the study of materials presented in class, and assignments that are extensions of class work. Homework may also include reading a good book for information, doing a project, interviewing a resource person, visiting a local historical site, writing a story or a research report, or watching an educational program. These kinds of assignments can be exciting and aid in classroom discussions. Teachers have a right to expect that homework assignments are completed promptly. Teachers also have a responsibility to inform parents and to solicit their help when homework assignments fall below the expectations of the teacher. Homework will count towards the overall grade.
Students are responsible for keeping their student planner up to date, the parent is responsible to check each student’s diary regularly.
Parental responsibility regarding homework requires that a parent:
Check homework daily – depending on the grade/class. Confer with the teacher if your child is unclear about the assignment. Show interest. Take assignments as a serious matter. Answer questions. Assist in planning time. Provide a proper atmosphere. Remove distractions: i.e., radio/TV/music. Provide necessary supplies. Save magazines for reference. Look at finished assignment for: *neatness *accuracy *completeness. Contact the teacher if you have any questions regarding homework.

School Bags...
There is growing concern these days that students are carrying way too much weight on their backs. If school bags are not used properly, muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the back can be strained. With over 30% of school aged children reporting that they experience frequent backaches and pains it is important to choose and use a back pack properly. Ideally, a school bag would have several compartments as this helps distribute the weight better. Also, instead of carrying everything one owns in the schoolbag, try packing the bag according to the timetable. Roller Bags will not be allowed this academic year in the school building. This is in the interest of students’ safety.
Confiscated items:
Mobile telephones, unsuitable reading material, video games, jewelry will be confiscated and returned on the last day of the academic year.

Importance of Discipline...
The poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge was visited by an admirer one day. They conversed delightfully on various topics, till it got around to children. “I believe,” said the visitor, “that children should be left free to think and act. Only then will they grow.” Coleridge got up and said to his visitor, “I’d like you to see my flower garden.” The visitor took one look and said, “But this isn't a garden, it’s a yard full of weeds.” “Yes,” said Coleridge, “it used to be the most beautifully laid out place. But this year I decided to let the garden grow as it wished. This is the result.
