PTM & Progress Reports... |
On Thursday November 2 nd, we witnessed almost 90% attendance of our parent population in school. The Progress Report was linked to the PTM thus parents were able to collect their child’s progress report, and discuss the same promptly. As this was a great opportunity for all to meet their child’s teachers it goes without saying that PTM’s provide an opportunity to parents to keep abreast of their child’s academic progress in school. The majority of parents, I met seemed to be pleased with their child’s progress so far. With exams around the corner do ensure that your child is spending enough time on revisions, and of course working hard on reviewing the syllabus . I would like to thank the parents who followed the circular regarding students’ attendance in uniform, and the stipulated timings. I hope that the 10 percent of parents, who failed to attend the meeting, will take the time to make a follow up appointment. |
شهدنا يوم الخميس الموافق 2 نوفمبر 2006 حضور ما نسبته 90% من أولياء أمور الطلبة للمدرسة. حيث تم تسليم تقرير التقدم التحصيلي خلال اجتماع أولياء الأمور, مما مكًن أولياء الأمور بالإجتماع مع المعلمين والمعلمات والإطلاع على تحصيل أبنائهم وبناتهم . معظم أولياء الأمور الذين قابلتهم بدوا سعداء بأداء أبنائهم خلال هذه الفترة, وبما أن الإمتحانات على الأبواب فإنني انتهز الفرصة لأؤكد على ضرورة تخصيص الوقت الكافي للدراسة ومراجعة المنهج, كما أود أن أشكر أولياء الأمور الذين اصطحبوا أبناءهم بالزي المدرسي حسب التعليمات وآمل من ال 10% الباقية من أولياء الأمور الذين لم يتمكنوا من الحضور أن يبادروا لتحديد موعد آخر للاجتماع.

Iftar at Senior Sections...
oth the Senior Sections of WIS welcomed parents and family members to an Iftar evening on 15th of Ramadan. We witnessed a large turnout and would like to thank all those who attended and made the occasion special for their child. The Girls section set up a variety of stalls from Henna painting to jewelry selling. The proceeds will go to a local charity. The boys section had a few football matches and fathers had a relaxing evening under the stars. |

Sports Days...
|
The Primary School Sports Days took place on November 26 th, 27 th, and 30 th and gave Wesgreen students a wonderful opportunity to compete in different events, and support their house as they tried to win the House Trophy. Our KG classes kicked started the Sports Day with displays of hoop jumping, balancing, and ball passing skills. Grades 1 to 4 participated in individual track and field activities, ending the day with Parents and Teachers races. Last year’s winners, the Scorpions, were hoping to retain the trophy and though the enthusiasm and commitment of the other houses meant that it was a close call, the Scorpions succeeded in retaining their title as Primary School Sports Champions. We thank our Teachers, especially our PE department, for a well organized event. I would also like to thank the girls from grades 6, 8 and 11 who lent a hand each day, parents who braved the sun and heat to support their children and hats off to the students themselves who competed with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

Attendance...
ur School calendar is prepared and distributed to the community every academic year, at the beginning of June, for the following academic year. However, it has been witnessed that many families do not plan accordingly. It was extremely disappointing to note that 60 plus children from the KG Section were absent after the recent EID holidays. These children are unable to decide for themselves whether they should be present in school or not. It is therefore sad that parents do not see the need for regular attendance. These absences from school are a major set back for children of this age. According to the Ministry of Education —all absenteeism must be accounted for. Parents must keep this in mind while planning holidays. No request for extended leave will be entertained. In case of absenteeism a note of excuse must be submitted by the student, upon return, to the Building Head.

يتم إعداد وتوزيع التقويم المدرسي لجميع أولياء الأمور في كل عام بداية شهر يونيو للعام الدراسي التالي , غير أنه تم ملاحظة أن العديد من العائلات لم يخططوا لإجازاتهم وفقا لهذا التقويم. كما أنه من المخيب للآمال غياب أكثر من 60 طالب من مرحلة رياض الأطفال عقب عطلة العيد. ولا بد من الإشارة هنا الى أن هؤلاء الأطفال غير قادرين على اتخاذ القرارات حول الحضور أو الغياب عن المدرسة بأنفسهم , لذلك فإنه من المحزن جداً عدم مراعاة الأهل لإهمية الحضور المنتظم للمدرسة , و عدم الإنتباه إلى أن الغياب المستمر قد يشكل انتكاسا للطفل في مثل هذا العمر. حسب تعليمات وزارة التربية والتعليم فإنه يجب علينا احتساب عدد أيام الغياب لكل طفل, ويجب على الأهل أخذ ذلك بعين الإعتبار عند التخطيط لإجازاتهم. كما أود التنويه أنه لن يكون هناك تمديد للإجازة و في حال الغياب أرجو إرسال رسالة لمسؤول القسم توضح سبب الغياب فور العودة من الإجازة.
سم الإبتدائي يوما رياضيا بتاريخ 26 , 27 و 30 نوفمبر. حيث نال الطلبة فرصة رائعة للتنافس في حدث مميز, وقد بذلوا أقصى الجهد لدعم المجموعة التي ينتمون إليها لنيل الكأس. أطفال الروضة افتتحوا الحدث من خلال لعبة القفز, والتوازن ومهارات تمرير الكرة. أما طلاب الصف الأول_ الرابع فقد شاركوا بألعاب فردية وأخرى جماعية وأنتهى اليوم بسباق المعلمين وأولياء الأمور. مجموعة العقرب التي فازت بالكأس العام الماضي أملت أن تحقق النتيجة نفسها هذا العام بالرغم من المنافسة و الحماس الشديدين من المجموعات الأخرى و التي كانت على مقربة من الفوز إلا أن مجموعة العقرب نجحت بالحفاظ على اللقب كأبطالٍ لليوم الرياضي في القسم الإبتدائي. وهنا أود أن اشكر المعلمين والمعلمات خاصة قسم التربية الرياضية في المدرسة للتنظيم الجيد. كما أود شكر طالبات الصف 6 و 8و 11 على تقديم يد المساعدة لنا في ذلك اليوم و أشكر أولياء الأمور الذين تحملوا حرارة الشمس في سبيل دعم وتشجيع أطفالهم الذين تنافسوا بكل حماسٍ وروح رياضية

Curriculum Guides...
Curriculum guides are available on our school website: www.wesgreen.net under ‘Student Section’. These guidelines describe the philosophy of each section/grade and subject. At present they are an outline of each subject’s guidelines: Chapters to be covered, topics, assignments that are due and examination requirements. Everyone should be aware of what their child is doing, and what is expected of them. If you feel that your child is not working according to the aforementioned guidelines —do contact the respective Head. You may refer to my October newsletter in which the contact list was given out. During the second semester you will be notified when a detailed scheme of work will be available for guidance as well.

دليل المنهاج متوفر في موقع المدرسة الإلكتروني www.wesgreen.net تحت زاوية "قسم الطلبة" . هذا الدليل يصف فلسفة كل قسم / صف وكل مادة. في الوقت الحالي توجد الخطوط العريضة لكل مادة, والفصول التي تمت تغطيتها والواجبات , بالإضافة لمتطلبات الإمتحانات , على كل ولي أمر أن يكون مطلعاً على ما يفعله ابنه /ابنته و ما يُتوقع منهم. و إذا شعرتم أن ابنكم / ابنتكم لا يعمل وفق الخطوط العريضة المذكورة في الموقع, فأرجو مراجعة مسؤول القسم للإستفسار . وللحصول على عناوين المسؤولين في كل قسم أرجو الرجوع للمجلة المدرسية لشهر أكتوبر . في الفصل الدراسي الثاني سيتم إبلاغكم عن موعد توفر خطة العمل التفصيلية لمساعدتكم في متابعة أطفالكم ومساعدتهم.
