WIS Board of Governors Announce Scholarship ...

On behalf of the Board of Governors at Wesgreen International School, it gives me great pleasure to inform our school community of a Scholarship Award that will be implemented this year at the AS and A Level program of study. WIS has implemented a scholarship program for outstanding students to create a merit-based fund that would award scholarships to those students who have achieved the highest results in the IGCSE and GCSE external examinations, and who wish to continue their AS and A Level studies at Wesgreen. The scholarships will be awarded on a tier basis, with the three most outstanding students from each section, i.e. Boys Section and Girls Section, being given the award. The scholarship will also be adjusted according to the placement of the awardees in one of the three tiers. The highest award will be given to the most outstanding of the three, and so forth. The scholarships have been created with a view to encouraging academic excellence at Wesgreen, and recognizing the work of our students. The scholarship lasts for a year; to be eligible for the scholarship, students need to obtain a minimum of 5 A’s in their IGCSE and GCSE external examinations. I would like to announce the award winners for this academic year: In the Boys Section first, second and third prizes are awarded to, Bilal Asghar 4 A * & 5 A’s Haris Mushtaq 3 A * & 6 A’s, Yousaf Farooq Qasim 6 A* & 2 A’s. In the Girls Section, tied for first place are Maha Mahmood, 3 A*, 5 A’s and Amena Shiraz Osman 3 A* and 5 A’s. Following in second and third places, respectively, are Sofia Farhat Ahmad 1 A* & 6 A’s and Memona Yousuf with 6 A’s. The policy document can be seen at www.wesgreen.net under Students Corner.

Parent Teacher Meeting...

Our best wishes are always with them. Timing…

An important reminder for all: school starts promptly at 7:45 am with a school line up, announcements and any other important information. Gates are locked at 8am— NO EXCEPTIONS !

Parking...

Little children are moving around in the parking lots, and we find some cars speeding. The safety of our children is our prime concern and we want your cooperation in this regard. Do ensure that you follow the directions of those assisting in the parking lots, for everyone's safety. For the Senior Buildings—a special reminder—no blowing horns; have your child meet you in a designated area.

Contacts….
If you have any problems or questions regarding your child's education in a specific area, do contact the particular staff members directly responsible for a curriculum area. A particular teacher may not be listed, but the team leader of the section should be contacted, with a copy to the respected Head of the building. Don’t forget that we also use the old fashioned method of the school diary—which is a means of daily communication with your child's teachers. You will find a list of staff members on our school website, www.wesgreen.net under contact information.

Little Red Wagon...

Some days we skip along, pulling our wagons with great confidence—so full of energy that the load seems light. Some days the load seems heavy and we need someone to help us pull our wagons over the bumps in the road. Some days we are just tired. We sit in our wagons and let someone else pull us along for a while. And some days it's kind of nice to share our little red wagons with a friend. As you think about yesterday, and make plans for tomorrow, keep in mind that there will be times when you can help pull someone’s little red wagon for a while. After all, helping to pull each other’s little red wagon is what makes it possible to face the challenges the day brings.

Language Journals...

A reminder that all students in grades 5 to 11 must be completing a journal for all languages; Arabic, English, French or Urdu. The journal is due weekly and is in addition to any homework that has been given. The journals are something for the students to enhance their language skills and ensure that they are reading outside current events in these languages.
